What you’ll be doing

You’ll carry out a 12-week placement as an Assistant Management Accountant or an Assistant Financial Accountant. Working alongside some of the most respected finance professionals in the industry, you’ll be part of a team affecting critical decisions throughout our organisation.

At the end of your placement, we’ll ask you to put together a short presentation to reflect on your experiences and help improve the scheme for future students.

Who you are matters

You’ll need to be in your penultimate year at university, and on track to achieve at least a 2:1 in any degree subject and have the flexibility to occasionally travel to attend training opportunities at various locations.

We’re looking for hardworking, driven individuals with an analytical mindset and a flair for finance. You should be enthusiastic about your work, enjoy collaborating with others and have the skills and be confident in communicating with people at all levels.

Our Application Process

Once you’ve made the decision to join us at Network Rail, you’ll want to know more about our application process. We’ve outlined the main steps you’ll take as part of your application journey below:

  1. Application Form
    This form collects the information we need to ensure you meet our minimum criteria.
  2. Online Assessment
    This is an assessment presenting you with scenarios to assess how you work. As part of this we’ll ask you to complete a video interview designed to help us learn more about you and your interests.
  3. Assessment Centre
    These will be virtual or in-person, depending on the scheme you apply to. The day consists of some activities that will enable you to demonstrate your suitability for the scheme.
  4. Outcome
    We’ll let you know the outcome of your application as soon as all the assessment centres for your scheme are complete. If you are successful, we’ll move you onto our onboarding experience.
